question on inflammation

I was wondering if you have ulcerative colitis and they say that a flare starts at the rectum is it true that if you keep the rectum from getting inflammed by taking medicine (enemas, suppostories and such) would that mean that any further inflammation would not happen because the inflammation is usually of continuous fashion in u.c.

I don't know if it's flares that actually start at the rectum but UC itself, first time, usually starts in the rectum. So, if you knew that ahead of time, you might be correct, at least in some cases. Once you've had UC though I think a future flare can start just about anywhere.
