Tail bone pain

So, I've had tail bone pain off and on since this whole glamorous pooping disease started. It was worse in the beginning and I thought it was because of pooping, hemroids or something. It went away as I got better, then would come back for a couple days-separate from any pooping problems. Well, for the last week and a half or more its been there. It's a dull ache right at my tail bone. Anyone know what this is about? Is it related?

I had this when I was briefly taking Asacol, but it wasn't restricted to the tailbone. It would move around my body (eg. elbow, shoulder, then back to tailbone, etc).

You could up the supps to see if that helps.

Have you had an x-ray of your lower back? If not...I would suggest you do it to make sure nothing else is going on.

Are you male or female?.....hormone ups and downs can affect the tailbone.

Were you recently exercising or doing something that could cause muscular or nerve pain in that area?

When my external hemmie flares...sometimes the pain radiates into that area, and it's most disconcerting.

Hmmm so many possible causes by the sounds of it! I didn't realize! Serenity- I am on asacol, but the pain doesn't move around like you described, well, not yet anyway tongue Quincy- Interesting that you mentioned hormones. I'm female and I've noticed my cycles have been messed up since all this started. I'm going to start recording the days I have this pain and see if it correlates to particular times in cycle. Thanks for suggestion.

I have the same pain. I suspect mine is due to my CD disease spreading to my rectum.

I had a lot of Sacral Joint pain (very very low back/spine/tailbone area) for a while. And then I realized... that some of the dull achey-ness was actually rectal pain. I didnt realize it wasnt my actual bones hurting but inflammation or irritation in the rectum. Not always... but otherwise my pain moved around to other joins (ie knees, ankles, elbows.)

Let us know how it correlates with your cycle though, cuz thats very interesting to me.

I havent had my period since December. Silly UC and hormones....
