Tapering off of prednisone - 20 mg per/day for 3 months?

So for this study that I am looking to participate in, I need to maintain a constant drug regime, which is fine, except that I am currently tapering off of prednisone. This means that I will likely have to take prednisone (20 mg) every day for about 12 weeks. I know prednisone is not a good drug to take long term, but does anyone for see any issues with taking this dose for that amount of time and then tapering?

Its an anti-MAdCAM antibody drug from Pfizer. It is essentially the counterpart to vedolizumab (i.e. blocks the other protein in the interaction). There is also a 4:1 chance of getting the drug vs placebo, but its not open label.

20 mg during 33 months is not a high dose, I know people who are taking way much (for other kind of diseases ) and are doing quite fine.
