I couldn't do it...but I understand why you wanted to do it.
I think those of us who do have stress, depression, anxiety, bipolar...eventually learn that constant commitments in which WE HAVE NO control aren't going to work.
Why???? because the downtime isn't enough and we don't know how we'll be feeling when those commitments happen. Especially when we're told we have to do stress management practice at home...lol.
This was a huge learning curve for you. Embarrassed? never be....and if someone else tells you should have stuck with it, then say to them "I learned my limits... and knew that if I continued, I would have been severely distressed at the year-long commitment. I'm relieved".
Hopefully now, you'll start to feel much better because of your decision.
