Well I don't need a stupid UTI right now...Advice??

How frustrating for you. One thing to look into is a supplement called d-mannose. It is supposed to help for uti's. Other than that, the things you have been doing..lots of water, probiotics etc.... Hope you feel better soon!

If your last antibiotic didn't do you right I wouldn't take the same one again. See about getting a different one. I actually had a UTI back in January and the doctor was going to prescribe an antibiotic. He offered me several choices because of my fear of my UC where the first ones I said, no, no, no, no and then I finally agreed to one. My GI didn't know about any of this. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the antibiotic I took but it didn't give me any troubles. Recently I took Amoxicillin for an oral problem and that didn't bother me at all but I don't know if that is a good one to take for a UTI. Load up on probiotics while taking antibiotics.

This is literally the story of my life! Since being diagnosed with UC I get UTIs so much more frequently! I have them about 3 times a year despite all my best efforts to avoid them as well…. they are so uncomfortable and the antibiotics sometimes tear me up too. I'm glad I'm not the only one though.

Definitely try a different antibiotic this time. Possibly ask your GI what he recommends if you are seeing your primary care doctor or a different doctor for the prescription. My Gi recommended telling other doctors to prescribe me antibiotics for the shortest amount of time possible. I'm not sure if this works but I always tell doctors this anyways. I can't remember what I was prescribed for my last UTI, but it didn't bother my UC. I think maybe macrobid or something like that, I've also taken cipro but don't remember if that was a good or bad one for me.

P.s. if your UTI is really bad and you're in a lot of discomfort, ask for the pills that turn your pee orange. They are seriously a life saver… If you haven't been prescribed these before lol.

Try online for high quality probiotics.

Cranberry pills are the only thing that kicks my UTIs. I dont take pills for them very often and now that i have uc, probably never will.

I take three pills three times a day of the UTI is already full fledged and roaring up.... :)

I read about the black cherry/cranberry combo. Like the concentrate you'd usually mix with water...I literally used a shot glass and drank one of each a couple times a day from Friday until now. Feeling better.

I will also check on adding a probiotic.

Hi c-o-t-o....the reason I'm concerned is because it DOES coincide with your UC. Have you had urine culture done, and not just a quick test to state infection?
If not, I strongly suggest you have one.

As well, if you haven't had a bladder scope, your doc should at least have an ultrasound scheduled to see if there's any thickening in the wall of the bladder. a scope would be best tho.

The Reuteri is in the fridge section, but not all places carry it. Get the capsules, not the pearls or the powder.

There is another brand that has Reuteri in it...can't remember the name. Someone else on here is taking it (but I've not tried it.

I was referring to my general doc when I said he was satisfied. ..he got the test results from my urologist from the kidney stone dx. But it was my urologist who said he saw no further problems
