Prednisone taper and increased symptoms almost immediately!

So, I has been sick with pneumonia and on levaquin, which caused horrible UC symptoms. My doc wanted me stop Lialda and UCersis and start prednisone at 40 mg. That was 8 days ago. It worked like magic. Pain gone in 12 hours and back to normal GI functioning in 2 days. I hadn't felt that good since I began flaring in February. So, my doc said I could start the taper yesterday. I took 20 mg in the am like I had done and then instead of 20 I took 10mg at dinner. I also added 4 pills of colazol. Well, 8 hours later in the middle of the night I was up with looser stools twice. Then 2 loose bowel movements and cramping so far today. This morning I took 20 Mg of pred. And 4 more Colazol. Can reducing by 10mgs cause the symptoms to return that quickly? I'm guessing it's not a good sign.

When I tapered off pred I used a steroid enema on taper days and a mesalamine enema every night. You could also try going down by 5 mg when you get under 20. Some people even so 2.5g when they get under 10 and 1g tapers when they get under 5.
