I know this is not UC related, but you guys are the only ones I trust.
My mom started taking Champix (smoking cessation) on February 5, quite smoking February 19. I believe she stopped taking the pill in the middle of march because it was causing her bad side effects - hostile, irritable, crying, not feeling like herself. She also stopped taking Morphine for her pain around the same time. She is in more pain since quitting, which may be a factor. (She has Osteoarthritis, Fibro, fused discs, anxiety, emphysema and no cartilage in her knees. She takes tons of meds for it.)
Now this is June, and I've seen some things I don't like. She loves her rose garden, and is out all day until I have to drag her in at night to eat. She hasn't spent more than an hour outside since Spring has rolled around. Didn't remove the leaves or dirt.
She's now sleeping practically all day. Irritable. Gets upset over any thing. Doesn't care about what she does. Doesn't eat a lot, except junk food.
I've had depression - due to not accepting UC and a loss in the family. I know it. I understand it. I think she has it.
But I'm not sure. Is it depression, the effects of Champix (I have heard of it last past 6 months), or her being in constant pain? Or all of the above?
I'm working with a nurse at our doctor's office to get her in see the doc. She needs a breathing test this Tuesday. The nurse said we can make an appointment for the results of that test and for the doctor to see what is going on with her. I think it's a good plan.
But I need more advice. What should I do??
