Can't kick this c diff

I can't kick this c diff. I've been on vanco since march and before that, I was on flagyl since Jan.

I had a colonoscopy last week and no sign of a colitis flare, or c diff, apparently. But, I'm still having D. I didn't make it to the bathroom last week, even before the prep before the colonoscopy, and today I had gas and had an accident. I'm still not having any formed stools.

I also feel generally crappy. I'm getting about 10-11 hrs of sleep a night and am tired and nauseous more often than not. No fever or anything.

My GI suggested I see an infectious disease specialist, so I have an appt next week. I'm not sure what the next step is. I refuse to believe that this is the way my life now is...35 years old and not even able to make it to the restroom. This is rediculous.

What are the long term side effects of having c diff? What do you think the doc will say or suggest that I do?

Antibiotics for c. diff are kinda iffy - they may work, but then there's a strong chance of recurrence when people discontinue. I really encourage you to look into FMT and find a doctor who will guide you through the process (screening, donor selection, etc).

The efficacy of FMT for c. diff is close to 100%, which is something no other treatment offers.

Don't waste your money or time on a infectious disease specialist, as most of them don't know what they are doing.

Let me get this straight, no signs of either UC or C-Diff, and yet you are still having symptoms? Something's wrong with that picture. Not sure what.

My best guess is that it has something to do with your small intestine as a colonoscopy just checks your large intestine and rectal area. I'm not sure if there are any visual signs of C-Diff. It is usually just checked with a stool test and the tests can return false negatives quite often so that may be a possibility also.

Apriso, 4 pills/day
Azothiaprine, 50 mg
Fluoxetine, 20 mg (just decreased in early May from 40 mg)
Florastor, 250 mg
Gabapentin 200 mg for hand nerve pain

I did have my bloodwork done in late May and everything came back good. Although my liver enzymes were elevated. She did a few more tests and said they weren't that bad where we have to worry just yet.

Is it possible to have crohns and colitis?

For my c.diff I took double vanco (250 instead of 125) at max dose and also culturelle (up to 4-6 times a day at the worst of my c.diff) and s.boulardi. I have one from Amazon... so not florastor, but i know a lot of people take that brand.

Are you having pain? Do you FEEL like you still have c.diff? I know for me the SMELL and PAIN were different... I knew when c.diff was finally gone because of those two factors.

As for clear scope and UC symptoms... wouldn't be the first time someone has posted that.
And I would ask for pill cam, MRI, SOMETHING. I think your GI department still has work to do before sending you on to an infectious diseases specialist... really.

So elevated liver levels, frequent diarrhea and incontinence... yeah.. I'd be pitching a fit. Either more blood work or another scan of the body SOME how... any how.
I havent had a colonoscopy since my first one. My symptoms speak volumes and no one has needed to go in and look to say YEP something is wrong with this girl!

I hope some people have better answers for you, but with clear scope I say Crohns is likely or... what did your biopsies say? Microscopic inflammation is still possible and the reason for the excess bathroom trips.
And I have a hard time believing you have a beautiful rectum if you are crapping your pants.

So the verdict (according to the doc) is a CBC bloodiest, discontinue the Apriso (whatever good that'll do), brat diet, and still see the infectious disease doc next week. I'm so confused - why would she have me discontinue the Apriso!? That's the staple for remission, no?
