Hello all --
Started on my prednisone journey on April 10th at 60mg, and started tapering in May and just finished on June 28th. Even at 10mg/5mg, I started seeing my face slowly "deflate" if you will. I'm really displeased about
my weight :( I used to be 100-110 pounds but today after visiting my GI, I'm 117. It's been a struggle with several of my friends having pool parties and the fat redistribution shows noticeably in my hips, stomach, and back.
For those of you with experience with Prednisone, how long did it take for your physical side effects to diminish and completely disappear?

I was on a prednisone taper right around the same time you were (4/7/14-6/18/14), and most of my side effects minus the moon face have gone away in the last two weeks. I think it really depends on the person, some have the side effects go away quickly and with others it takes longer.

It's the worst and I can relate. You have to give yourself time. It seriously can take months to get back to your old weight but it might happen way quicker. I am lost because I never got back to my old size but I am much older than you and I think it's due to my age and metabolism so do not stress, you will get there. Be patient and ficus on your health, 117 is a good weight and i am sure you look great, feel good and the. You can put energy into exercise and your figure. Right now you need to get healthy

It took me 6 months before all the water retention was gone. Don't forget that steroids really weakens your muscle and connective tissue. Your body has a lot of rebuilding to do with muscle. That just takes time. Your body is amazing at adjusting to your needs, so I'm sure things will normalize again soon. I really hope your treatment is working and you're feeling better. If you're getting healthy on the inside, then nothing can stop you! :)

I finished my taper in February and still haven't managed to shift all the extra pred weight (though haven't put much effort into it, in fairness).
The side effect that has been the most persistent, even now, is getting lots of spots and blemishes. I've never had much problem with my skin but since being on pred it's become quite bad.

Yes, it took about
six months to redistribute the weight and for the moon face to disappear. So happy you are off the pred! Keep eating healthy and exercising, and you'll be back in shape in no time

How long was you on Pred? Just about
to start a course 40mg tapper one week, tapering 5mg a week until I get to 20 mg stay on this for 2 weeks then tapper again 5mg until eventual finish.
