So back story...21 year old female, sexually active with one partner from age 16. We had a wonderful sex life, no complications no pain. about 2 years ago I had a yeast infection that seemed to clear up but after there was a lingering irritation causing sex to feel like sand paper. Slowly it became unbearable. I went from having sex almost daily to now maybe 1 every 3 months. I went to my gyno on over the years and was told I was just doing it wrong and so on. So I decided that it was time for a second opinion & went to a bigger city to get another opinion, this DR immediately told me that I had Vaginitis (May 22nd 2014) , meaning my nerves were inflamed from the original yeast infection 2 years ago. She prescribed me Lidocaine cream 5 xtimes a day for 2 weeks and then to just whenever I felt like I needed it after that. The Lidocaine did the trick for the Vaginitis. No more external pain. But still having extreme internal pain.
On about May 30th I started to pass blood in my stool and it got worse over the weekend. I made an appointment with my Primary care DR right away (June 2nd) and was ordered a Colonoscopy right away (June 5th) That day the told me I had UC (proctitis) they put me on Lialda once a day for 30 days. I saw no improvement and was discouraged. Called my new GI DR and asked to be put on rectal meds. He put me on Hydrocortisone enemas 2xs a day for 10 days. I'm on my 8th day now. After about the 3rd day I saw improvement. Had one almost normal bowel movement. Then nothing. Back to only blood. I have not had a bowel movement since and am miserable. I called back again and said I could not pass stool & needed reliefe. They told me to take miralax. I have seen no improvement yet. So in short...before the colonoscopy I had bloody diarrhea everyday. After I have only had a handful of puny bowel movements. One extreme to the next. It's been almost a month post colonoscopy. I've gained 10 lbs (110 before -120 now) My ankles and face and stomach are all so swollen. My stomach is also hard as a rock.
Today I had a follow up with my gyno regarding my pain with sex. I told her my diagnosis and she is convinced that this is where the internal sexual pain has been coming from all along. She wishes that I get a second GI DR in Louisville KY to look into my case & take me seriously. ***(If anyone has any Louisville KY GI DR recommendations let me know)*** She wants to get my symptoms of the UC taken care of and see if the sexual pain is still a problem. Next step is possibly surgery. I'm not even sure what kind though....
I'm sorry this is rambling and overwhelming...this is how I'm feeling...overwhelmed. I guess my question after all that is have any of you female proctitis sufferers experienced pain with intercourse..? Does it go away after you get the symptoms to calm down? Any tips?
