So sad, he was found dead in his place.

He was battling depression and apparently killed himself.

I am very sad about this news too! I think he was an incredible actor, and I loved every movie he was in. I particularly loved "Dead Poets Society", and then the film Öne Hour Photo" where he played a shy loner who becomes obsessed with a young suburban family whilst working in a large store behind the photo counter, this film was so sad, and he played it so well, such a terribly sad moving film, and I have never forgotten it.....

Depression is terrible, his poor family must be devastated.

He was one of my faves. So freakin sad. I loved all his movies. RIP Robin. Thanks for all the laughs. :(

So sad. I loved most of his movies. My favourite is also Mrs Doubtfire. Depression is such a terrible disease. When i was depressed very recently i wished i would die every single day. Life becomes a drag. You become blinded to all the good things that you have. But my depression was because of my UC. I don't know what his was due to.

Still so so sad. He was one of my favourite actors.

He was a great comedian and actor, and what a big heart he had! Depression is a lonely disease; I know his family must be devastated. Peace Robin, and thanks.

This really hit me hard. I guess it is because I have grown up watching him. Mork and Mindy, Jumangi,Hook and Mrs Doubtfire. Who can forget Comic Relief with Whoopi and Billy Crystal? It saddens me that a person who can make the world laugh battled such an awful disease. Depression doesn't discriminate. And sadly, many with deep depression are Masters at hiding it even from those closest to them. I have seen this first hand with my oldest.

Prayers to his family. Thank you Robin for all the laughs. May you be at peace finally.

Yeah, that is a shock to realise he's no longer going to be.

I always saw him as manic and hyper...and in truth, the best comics are the ones that turmoil deeply. Mix drugs and alcohol...lethal mix.

Having depression/anxiety with ups and downs....I know what it's like to want to cut out. Meds and therapy have helped keep that thought more understood and contained.

For whatever his reasons, he was probably in a continual flux of toeing/walking the line.

RIP Robin. I hope it all makes sense now.

Just looking at some of the stills and comparing that to the Robin Williams of my childhood, he aged really, really well.

RIP Dude -- Mrs.Doubtfire and Jumanji were THE movies of my childhood.

Hear hear, so sad to hear this, he was a true comic genius and a good man, period... Depression is horrible, and sadly seems all too commonly correlated with creative and comedic genius.

I just heard he was experiencing the onset of parkinsons disease, that on top of his depression and dependency battles had to be the last straw for the poor guy. I believe he's in a much better place now.

Yeah. I think it was the parkinson's thing that was the last straw. Robin has always been very physical with his comedy. He probably viewed it like life is all down hill from this point on.

At 63, I would think that with depression (actually, I suspect he was bipolar) and recent diagnosis of Parkinson's, life would be downhill from there.
