Uceris have you taken for awhile? If it was successful, for how long?

I started with a bad flare in April and have been on Prednisone most of that time, hospitalized in May, came home on Prednisone again, tried Uceris in June. At first I though it was helping, but then after a week or so I starting getting worse. Finally my Dr. and I agreed that I needed a biologic. I started the 4 loading doses August 15, then 2 weeks the 2 shot loading dose and today 9/12/14 did the one shot. I have had no side effects at all, with in 24 hrs. my symptoms began to improve and I feel that I am close to full remission. I do not have any aches/pains, tiredness or dizziness after the shots. I feel my energy level has improved, am exercising at least 30 minutes a day and have energy to do things around the house...prior to Humira I was weak and tired and had to nap...not something I was use to. I am almost off the Prednisone, currently on 10mg, will go down to 5mg tomorrow. I feel Humira has given me my life back. I am almost 62, from what I have read, the cancer risks are higher for the young, especially males. I asked my GI what was the longest he has some one Humira and he told me 6 yrs and they are still doing well!!

I asked for the Bentyl but GI said that there is a pill you put under the tongue that is better for cramping.
I have not picked it up from pharmacy yet but can let you know what it is and ow it worked out for me.
Notsosickgirl, the SCD diet works sometimes if you are really a devout follower..trouble with it for me is it's so high maintenance cooking wise and that almond flour is a big turn off!
Kinda just sticking to the essential stuff, plain chicken, yogurt,cooked veggies

Well here I am in NY STATE in my rental house in Garrison! I made it!
For a couple of days before I left, I was sick as a dog from anxiety and cramps.
I hardly ate anything other than a few bananas, some applesauce, my meds, and Kaopectate.
I wore the diaper on the plane (in case) but had not one incident
I was so happy I almost cried....
In addition to my meds I took this new probiotic (to me) recommended by another UC'er called ULTIMATE FLORA.
I don't know if it was the tension release, light eating, the probiotic,and finally getting here that helped me stay well so far, maybe all of mentioned!
I went pumpkin and apple picking yesterday. What a joy!
I am eating very light still. Bananas, applesauce, small potions of grilled chicken and cooked bland veggies. I hope this ride lasts. I feel free, yet still leary. That won't stop me from enjoying this high for now!
It's all about the good times when we can have them!
Just a few cramps, so thankful for right now!
