Double dose of remi!

For the first time in months I had a formed BM without blood. I've been in the hospital for my UC and pancreatitis since Sunday. I was doing really, really bad so my GI said he won't let me out of the hospital until I'm "skipping down the hallways" whether it be from remicade or surgery.

So I was so close to surgery this week. Even when on a super high dose on prednisone, they did a flexsig and my colon looked awfulwith no improvement. So it looks like the double dose of remicade is what I needed!! :)

What was the dose of the two infusions though?

Well it was one dose of 400mg of remicade. They called it a double dose because initially I was getting 200mg.

I don't want to be a Debbie downer but just mentally prepare yourself if the Remicade stops being effective. The same thing happened to me. A double dose held me for a while (not great but I was much better) but in the end it failed altogether. I just remember being devastated because surgery was my next step. At the time I wish I had some more mental preparation time. Surgery ended up be a blessing though. :). Good luck....I hope it holds for you!

I'm not scared of surgery at all now. I was preparing myself for surgery if the double dose failed. I feel like I'm ready for anything now, lol!

Good advice! I hope it works for you, but if not at least your mentally prepared for surgery...best of luck !

I'm also prepared for stopping remicade because it may be what's causing my pancreatitis attacks. Rather keep my pancreas than my colon!

When I had a double dose of Remicade I became very sick with flu-like symptoms which lasted for about 2 days. I remember afterwards, just walking to my apartment door, I was practically hunched over with horrible hip and knee pains taking the smallest baby steps as possible.

I actually felt awesome, but I was also on 60mg IV prednisone so that helped too... now I'm back to blood and semi-loose stools, although the frequency has greatly decreased.
