Medicare Part D Doughnut Hole Help

I am about to go on Medicare Part D for my prescription drugs. The 2 main drugs I use are:

Lialda 1.2 mg x 4 daily
Rowasa 3 x week

Has anyone had any experience with the Part D Plans and might have some suggestions for my research. Looks like my drug costs will be much higher from my current insurance. I checked and it looks like I can't use the Lialda discount card anymore.

First go to the medicare site,plug in your info pick your drugs,it does not seem to like rowasa
keeps giving me srowasa I don't know what that is. But it will take mesalamine enema.

Anyhow now comes the tricky part. It will bring up plans in your zip code.
It is only giving rest of year costs rather than a full year.
Anyway some plans cost more much more per month than others.
So you have to balance monthly cost with drug cost, and deductables.
But the main thing is you have to make sure to pick a plan where the drug is on the formulary.
Otherwise their will not be any catastrophic coverage.
Part D can be real tricky.
Work through it and be careful.
Plans can also remove a drug with notice,so one year it may be there and the next not.
Or they can remove in the middle of the year.
If you are on name brand drugs can get real expensive.

SF would be the (newer) sulfite-free Rowasa. I agree with Old Mike that you have to look at the plan's formulary 1st, and then continue to keep an eye on the one applying to the plan you enroll in. The Part D insurers tend to sneak drug changes in from yr to yr. Also check to see if the plan has a prior-approval process, which can work in your favor if they accept certification from your doctor that you require a brandname Rx med or a drug that they deem "non-preferred".
