I did, once it turned to a chorus of "I wanna kill myself." Clearly against Forum Rules with all the talk of self harm and all. Specifically:
Rule #1. No discussion of any illegal activity or threats of violence (ie. threats of suicide, self-harm, or physical harm). Discussion of medical marijuana is allowed as long as discussions have a medical focus.

You can ask questions as to if it's a statement of frustration or in truth and ask that it be removed or remove it yourself.

To my surprise, it wasn't an ugly thread....so I'm asking if it can be "adjusted" and reopened and let it play out.

Not disrespecting your moderating position, so keep that in mind....the two threads that were locked could have been amended before locking.

The truth is raw sometimes, and a person who has stated it could be warned and offered to make a choice of retracting it.

As well...it would be helpful to see who locked it and why.

I'm not attacking any moderator personally, but I've never understood the rationale behind censoring people's honest thoughts/feelings/opinions. If I'm happy and positive, no downer posts are gonna bring me down; if I'm utterly miserable, then I have the downer posts to commiserate with.

Objection noted Quincy. I'll give those threads another review but I make no promises. I'm all for the raw truth but once things start flying off the handle and are in violation of rules, I'd rather stop them before they really get nasty as it tends to happen quite fast. Cheers...

Go ahead and start fresh if you want; I prefer that approach. Perhaps in it, the tone will start fresh again as well and be more inline with the forum rules

If I'm remembering correctly from my moderator days, just saying, "I want to kill myself," wasn't really a clear violation of rule #1 - it was more when someone got into the specifics of how they'd do it, etc. I mean, it's a phrase that some people use without putting much thought into what it really means.

Personally, I thought it was a bit heavy handed to lock the thread after warnings from both you and nssg to stop talking about the taboo subject, when there were no further posts about it. To be fair, I know there could have been further posts that got deleted.

That seems a much more common sense interpretation of the rule.

How many people say things like, 'I want to die', without having any suicidal intent at all? It's not a threat of suicide if there's no intention to purposely kill yourself. I want a million pounds too; doesn't mean I'm about to go out and get it.

I think the self harm stuff was getting a bit heavy but a warning usually stops that kind of talk. A lot of members are not that familiar with the TOS and I don't think anyone was actually considering hurting themselves - on the other hand, I do think it is up to the person locking, and I respect ipoop's decision to do so 100%. I always joke about very dark stuff and I have no intent of harming myself. Talk and action are very different.

I usually end up locking due to people name calling. Members have requested that we state when we've locked and why so I've been making sure to note it at the end.
