Mercaptopurine - Nosebleeds

Just a quick question from me.

Has anyone here experienced nosebleeds during the first few weeks of taking mercaptopurine. If so, should I cease taking it forthwith, or not be too concerned? It is listed as a 'common' side effect on a number of webistes I've looked at. I won't be able to get a hold of my GI doc till Monday.

I had a few nosebleeds when I started azathioprine too, but they soon resolved themselves on their own. Mine were mild and not too troublesome, but if yours are more serious you should see your doctor. If they're only mild, I wouldn't think it would be worth stopping the 6mp.

Thanks for the response.

The nosebleeds have been pretty mild. I just got a bit of a start as I'd never had a nosebleed in my life before. I don't have any other negative side effects (so far, touch wood), so I'll just mention it to my doc when I see him next week.
