What does your doctor do for pain of pancolitis. because my liver is diseased I can only have 1 Tylenol a day and no ibuprofen. What do you do for the pain which is severe at times. My doctor does not offer anything.

Can you take narcotics like codeine or Tramadol? 1 tylenol a day sounds absolutely useless. My pancolitis got very painful towards the end and I was pretty much necking back codeine or tramadol every day.
That's only a short term solution though. You really need to get the disease under control. Can you take UC meds or does the diseased liver preclude immunesuppressants as well?

As Nicecup states, there's only one real solution - getting your disease under control so the pain goes away.

I fill a long tube sock with uncooked rice, knot it off at the top and heat it in the microwave for 3-5 minutes...depending on how hot I want it. It works like a heating pad and it curves right where I need it to. Sometimes I lay on top of it. The heat feels moist. It helps take the edge off for me.

there is many things you could do for pain also i second what gary said :
- First stay away from NSAIDs & antibiotics
- eat more frequently to keep your colon covered with meds don't let your colon be empty at any given time
- Antispasmodics ask your Dr. for them
- don't lift any heavy objects
- Diet modification, stay away from irritating food i.e spicy, fatty, whole grains, sugary, highly acidic, high fiber & lactose.
- 30 minutes or more of daily walks (outside the house)
- IMMENSE distraction this works wonders trust me, find the thing that could make you 100% focused
i.e for me while eating: comedy channels, getting to sleep or in the toilet:e-ink reader with funny interesting books, awake: Battlefield 3 with a close friend, also a good company helps friends/family ..etc
- 2 more secret weapons but consult your GI about
them first : 1) Immodium or anything that reduces motility 2) Calmepam : this pulled me through some extremely bad days
Edit: i also just noticed your post in "Post your breakfast" thread
Eggs can be irritating for a lot of people try eliminating it for a week or so, also corn doesn't break down completely which makes it very irritating to the colon (the outside fiber hull around the kernel is not digested)

Which pain are you talking about
, cramping pain or pain of BMs? For cramping pain, look at Bentyl or Lomotil. Lomotil has gotten controlled substance status lately so gets difficult to get it, but if Bentyl doesn't cut it, Lomotil will.
I was going 10X with Bentyl 20mg 4X a day, went only 5 times with less pain with 2X lomotil.
