Ot - CT scan revealed something I didn't know about

If you guys read my previous post about my CT scan of my pancreas you would know that everything turned out good. No pancreatic involvement that had to do with my upper ab pain - still no clue what that was about. But the CT scan revealed a thickening of my cervix, an ovarian cyst (2cm) -with crenulated appearance and thick rim (not sure what that means) and after getting a copy of my CT scan today, I found out that my lymph node next to my cervix (right side) is enlarged - or prominent according to the results. Btw, when my GI called with the results on Friday he seemed concerned and was very adamant about me seeing a GYN, tho to me that doesn't seem like anything because the last time he said that from my last CT scan 4 years ago due to some adhesions of unknown reason, it turned out it was just scar tissue from my endometrial ablation. My GI seems to be an alarmist.

I have an appointment with a GYN on Thursday. Please give me other possible scenarios of a thickened cervix with lymph node enlargement. My mind, as always, is going to the worse case scenario. And of course Dr. Google says that it's cancer. I really need to stop Googling things lol because by now every headache I had was a brain tumor ;) But for our female members, have you ever had something similar? Could it just be an infection of some sort?

No I don't know about that but I know Google bad idea! I go down that route too!

Keep us posted as to what GYN says. Glad your pancreas was fine. I don't have any suggestions as to what would cause thickening of the cervix. I'm actually overdue for a GYN appt. myself!

Dr. Google is so depressing... lol.

I still wouldn't worry too much yet. Give it a bit of time. My tonsils got very swollen after starting Remi. I was worried I had some sort of cancer. They took them out, and then other lymph nodes in my face got swollen. Eventually they all smoothed out.

Please don't google stuff. It's easier said than done. But just wait for your appointment to clear things up. I hope everything is well.

It may be a long shot scenario but after my endometrial ablation I had significant and thick scarring of the cervix so much so that when my cycles came back 3-4 years later all the fluid was trapped inside the uterus since the cervix was scarred completely shut.

It doesn't explain the enlarged node, but does show an example that all sorts of weird and unexpected things happen to our bodies that are not overly dire in nature.

Try not to worry to much.

That is good news because pancreatic cancer has low survivability rates.

every, even the slightest, infection involves enlarging of the lymph nodes so i think it may be possible that the cyst is filled with fluid that gives inflammation (dr google is a nightmare) if your pancreas turned out to be ok, this one will also turn out to be something of minor importance :)

Gosh, Sherry. You don't even get much time to celebrate some good news before something else comes along. I have no idea, no experience with this, sorry. But at least this time I'm not scaring you with some dire warning, so that's good right??

Remember last time I was scared you had liver cancer, you were scared you had pancreatic cancer, but it turned out NOT. So this time, odds are it will turn out to be NOT as well!

Yes Dr. Google is EVIL!! But honestly I learned a long time ago to not take anything to heart when researching things. I use Dr. Google as a baseline so to speak.

I'm sort of used to results of CT scans by now. The thing I'm worried about is nothing BUT...you have to see this doc or that doc. Which has usually always turned out to be nothing.

But this time I'm not thinking I dodged the bullet again. I'm having a very unusual pain, I still have the upper ab pain now but today I was having a sharp shooting sporadic pain on my right side (where the enlarged lymph node was seen) and a dull aching pain on the left (where the ovarian cyst is). I started using one of those sticky charcoal heating pad things and it seems to help with the pain. So right now I'm good.

But thank you all soooo much! It may be nothing or it may be something...who knows. I'm at the point that yes I get concerned but I'm at the point of who the heck cares if you know what I mean? I'm just tired.

It might have something to do with your past ablation-- like a side effect. Have you tried looking it up on Mayo Clinic Website? That site gives very objective information listing subtopics of a condition from symptoms to testing to treatment-- so a look there should calm your anxiety rather than increase it. One can have a procedure done that leads to something else later on; for example, I had a polyp grow out of my gum where an impacted wisdom tooth had been extracted decades back. The oral surgeon who operated to remove the polyp then told me that it's not an unusual thing to happen. (Annoying to deal with, but not involving malignancy.)
