Prednisone taper or mesalamine side effects??

Hi! I'm on my 4th week of a taper of Prednisone, at 10 mg/day, day 4. For the last 3 days I've had urgent diarrhea usually only in the morning. The last 2 days I've just felt like crap, like an all over flu but with lots of sneezing, my sinuses are all clogged. I haven't noticed much side effects from the mesalamine but now I'm wondering if this is due to them finally in my system, or is it that I'm down to 10 mg (will be zero on Sunday) on the Pred. Also a constant dull headache. Top it off with a neck strain. I just want to crawl into a hole.

Sounds to me like your UC is getting worse as you taper the pred. I wouldn't taper that fast if it was me but even if you taper slower you are only delaying the inevitable. Your maintenance meds don't seem to be good enough to keep you in remission. Sinuses being clogged aren't generally a side effect of either drug but the other symptoms you mentioned sound like pred withdrawyl. Hate to say this but you might want to consider smoking a couple of cigarettes per day.
