I have been treating priorities for 7 yrs now. Use Canasa supp at bedtime and asacol HD three tablets twice a day. It is pretty much in control as long as I stay on meds. I do think diet makes a huge difference. Liquor is out. Fiber seems to make it worse, nuts, corn, and dairy also bothers me I think. The doctor says diet is not a factor, but it isn't his body! I think it matters. I would like to be FREE of meds, but if I slack off it flares. Last year I had a reaction to sulfa and was in a bad flare, they gave me Rocephin I.V. and potassium and I immediately went into remission. Like over night no symptoms, but not one doctor can tell me why. They say it's just coincidence, I don't think so. I would like something cheaper than Asacol HD. I don't think it works very well and passes through whole and can't afford it since I am going to change insurance (thank you Mr. Obama) and have a six thousand dollar deductible and Canasa is over $600 a month and Asacol HD is over $900.
Anyone have suggestions?
