suggestions about maintenance med?

I asked doctor for shortest course of prednisone for current flare:
here is what he prescribed.

Prednisone
10 MG (10 MG TABLET Take 1) By Mouth every day x 30 days, 40mg qam with food x 1 wk, then 30mg qam with food x 1 wk,then 20mg qam with food x 1 wk then 10mg q am with food x 1 wk and then stop.; Dispensed: 80 Tablet(s)

hope it helps the bleeding, I do see him in a month and will talk about changing out colazal for another maintenance med, does anyone have suggestions as I have proctosigmoid to 30 cm.

yes thank you katmom, I am looking for any suggestions on maintenance oral medicine, originally I was on asacol which seemed to work, but then discontinued, tried asacol hd and got blood from beginning, now colazal which helped back in May until September now flaring. I don't know that I should try another oral medicine or still keep with the colazal if the pred works. Like I said I do have proctosigmoidtitis to 30 cm. and I thought colazal was going to be good for my condition, but maybe it is and I just need to stick with it longer after getting the blood to stop, actually I am so confused.
