You are certainly not alone, this disease is very confusing and difficult to deal with. When it comes to medication, it's worrying to think that you're pumping so many chemicals into your system, when it comes to supplements, it's concerning to think that you're routinely taking things that may either not be helping at all or even worsening your situation, and when it comes to diet, it's confusingly misleading since your body has its own preferences and reacts differently to different foods at different times.
In terms of the details, I wouldn't advise staying on prednisone for too long, it can lead to some seriously ugly side effects and the development of other health conditions. You have to think of medicine statistically, steroids are only meant for short term relief because they almost always eat away at your body. Now, when it comes to immunosuppressants and biologics, the rarest side effects aren't that big of a deal because they are so uncommon that many of the people who did suffer from the most problematic complications were either bound to develop certain diseases either way or were on doses that were far too high to be prescribed to people with colitis (e.g. organ transplant recipients, sufferers of much more complex conditions, etc.).
I sense that you're a bit lost, as we all are, when it comes to dealing with your colitis. The trick is not to read too much into it, don't go around reading heaps of random threads and blogs then putting together nightmarish situations or endless complicated transcripts in your mind. Take it easy, trust only the best of academic sources, don't become obsessed with the worst possible scenario, stay calm and deal with this disease in a healthy manner.
