Colonoscopy prep

Hello. My GI doctor just informed me that I need a colonoscopy. Because I have a problem drinking the fleet prep, he informed me that I am able to use the pills. I need to take about 32 of them ( 24 the day before and 8 the morning of the procedure )

I brought my script to Walgreens, and was told the pills would cost 130.00.

I read at one time, that someone used a miralax prep for a colposcopy?

Do you need a script for it? Also how is the taste? Does it work the same as the other preps? I would hate to go for the procedure and not be cleaned out. Thanks Laura

Miralax is the way to go. It is what the children's hospital in my city uses for the kids/teens and you know they wouldn't drink it if it was nasty. I've used it for the last 4 colonoscopies with excellent clean out results. It has no flavor so you only taste the beverage you choose. It's over the counter and you need the medium size bottle...I have forgotten how many oz it is. Mix it in 64 oz of Gatorade but don't drink red. I bought 2 32 oz bottles and split it.

Miralax is the best. Have also used it for 4 colonoscopies. You can mix it with anything. I used some lukewarm drinks & hot drinks (broth, herbal tea). about halfway through prep it's not uncommon to get chills.
I think it's 14 capfuls each with 8 oz of liquid at 15 min intervals. Check with your GI on specifics. It always takes me longer to get through all of it though.

All other preps made me vomit. Even the pills (osmo prep?) made me gag, and I couldn't hold them down. Very salty as I recall. I thought they took the pills off the market due to potential kidney damage....

I totally agree with Contentprof, all other preps cause nausea/vomiting and are disgustingly salty. Those preps will forever ruin whatever beverage you mix it with.

Huh, I've only ever used golytely for colonoscopy prep and I didn't think it was bad at all! Just tasted like salty water. I just made sure it was super cold, plugged my nose and chugged it down.
