How old is your daughter? Personally, I'm not much on second opinions. This is a disease where you have to learn as much as you can yourself and be a major part of the treatment decision process. I am the first opinion and my GI is the second opinion. Sometimes I listen to him and sometimes I don't. In my opinion, it is a mistake to just follow the doctor's orders with autoimmune diseases. They are diseases where the doctors don't know what caused it, they don't know a cure, and they have virtually no idea what treatment will work in which patient. So, overall, they don't know jack squat. That's why you have to educate yourself about the disease and be a major player in the decisions. It's possible that your daughter could have stayed in remission with Lialda and Canasa alone without having to go on Simponi, if they had been prescribed properly but since you didn't mention anything about dosages, etc. that is just a guess on my part. You also don't mention what meds she is on now, along with the Simponi. Have you tried any probliotics, supplements, or diet changes? Many of them work and have proven science behind them.
