I was a vegetarian for several years (not my whole life tho) when I got UC. My hubby ate what I ate but never had any gut problems. I thought it was very healthy food, maybe a bit heavy on pasta, milk and fruit but felt great, full of energy.
UC took away milk, fruit and wheat so eating meat was necessary and my gut now hates seafood, a healthy protein source, grrrr. I can't blame vegetarianism, in fact as my symptoms are lessened (some are IBS) I'm drifting again more toward less meat and more veggies but no soy, no wheat or pasta, no grains. My gut rules what foods are tolerated. Yes sugar is bad for human beings in excess but a girls gotta live
Yesterday I made toffee, my bad. But I know what's in it- butter and sugar and no other chemicals. Kids-don't do as I do-eat your veggies
