How many are here that always or during the flare have high Eosinophil numbers?
Usually, this is concluded as inflammation marker by the GIs, at least mine does, but yesterday, I had an appointment with an allergist for my son, high Eos, plus sky high IgE (and food allergies). The allergist commented that my high Eos can not simply be concluded as inflammation, it can very well be high histamine/Mast cell activation related, esp. when there is any auto immunity component present.
I plan to follow up on this once, DS' things are sorted out, but until then I wanted to throw out a question to the community, if anyone looked into it.
Thanks in advance.

I also have high EOS count, but Ive read that it can also be a sign of remission http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15886302 When you count EOS you should also consider your WBC count. If your WBC count is within the range, then your EOS (even elevated) are OK. Mine are flactuating.

Ive had high eos count for years- at least 5! Its high when i feel bad and when i feel good. My gi says it is my allergies- i have chronic urticaria, tons of environmental allergies, nose bleeds, and food histamine intolerance.

No Ewa, thats pretty much what me and DS has. You and Joanna should really check Ig levels and look into Mast cell activation syndrome, if allergies are too bad and often.

in fact i don't have any specific allergies and doctors didn't care much for high Eos, i think you shouldn't worry :)

Joanna,
For us the flag was high Eos and high IgA. That said it all, after physical exam (hypermobility, reflexes, nasal inflammation, none of which we knew before)
The test mentioned here has been ordered. https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=38&m=1838500 along with 24 hr urinary and plasma histamine. This (PGD2) is inflammatory in nature and acts along pathway involving mast cells.

Allergies or parasitic worms! I wouldn't worry about
the worms unless you've been going around barefoot in the tropics
