Still Can't Get Rid of Bitter Taste in Mouth...

Sorry for the repeat topic everyone, but I still can't get rid of that darn taste. It always happens after I eat and I'm beginning to think it's not the Prednisone. Is it possible it's the Uceris? I looked up side effects of Uceris and Purinethol (the two meds I'm currently on), and one of the possible side effects of Uceris is "excess stomach acid secretion." Could this be the culprit? Maybe it's Acid Reflux? Both?

Edit: Should have clarified, I've been off of Prednsione for about a week now. I had been thinking that it was long lasting side effects since it wasn't completely out of my system.

I've heard of people saying they get a bad taste in their mouth from steroids. I would bet either could do it. I never noticed it when I was on steroids. Steroids also cause excess acid. Have you tried a PPI?

I'm on Dexilant right now, and my GI has me taking one in the AM before my first meal. It appears to lessen the severity of the taste for some of the day, but it doesn't go away completely. It's driving me insane, I've been dealing with the taste for a good three weeks now.

Do you drink a lot of water? I always get a bad taste when I am dehydrated.

Have you been to the dentist recently? It could be something with your teeth. Bad breath can also be an indication that you're sick or getting sick. I'd go to the dentist though. They might be able to help you.

Last year while on prednisone I experienced drastic changes to my tastes.

I always had a bitter/metallic taste in mouth. No longer could really taste anything sour. Things could not be sweet enough.

After I finally weaned of prednisone it took a while to go away- maybe a month or two? Not sure. I just realized one day that the metallic taste was gone and things were starting to taste normal.

Going to the dentist is a really good suggestion though- you never know it could be something in your mouth.
