Hydrocortisone enema vs Entocort (budesonide) enema

Which one is more effective? Which one has less side effects? Which one do you prefer?

Budesonide is supposed to have less side effects.

Well the uceris ones are not available right now and probably won't be until July I've heard. Cortifoam is on backorder until then too. Seems like the only option right now is the hydrocrt enema. Sorry. I bet the hydrocort are more effective but can cause side effects, not like oral pred, similar but less.

nssg, I'm not in the US so I can get both hydrocortisone enema and entocort(budesonide) enema. Thanks for the replies so far.

Everything I've read says Budesonide is equally as effective as Hydrocortisone, the only difference is budesonide has fewer side effects.

Perhaps with enemas but I've heard so many people mention not getting the results with oral entocort that they get with prednisone. I haven't tried Budesonide rectally, just cortifoam, hydrocort enemas and hydrocort suppositories. I've used uceris orally and it's not quite as effective as prednisone. Depends on the flare up really, i've had great response, and not so great. The time it wasn't great was the time it was severe.

My understanding is that entocort enema mostly has local effects, which is why all the studies done used colitis patients. Since I have crohn's in colon I think it would be better for me to use the hydrocortisone enema.

entocort for me did NOTHING but make me worse... budenoside enemas helped me get to remmmission or helps take care of most symptoms quicker- everyones different but entocort was a waste bruuuutal
