Pentasa

I take oral Pentasa but no rectals. I personally take 2 grams per day but I think the supposed max dose is 4 grams per day, although it is a mesalamine similar to Asacol and Lialda, which the max dose of those is 4.8 grams per day. I don't believe you have to add the dosage of the rectal meds to the dosage of the oral meds, but don't quote me on that. Personally, I think oral Pentasa is better that the oral mesalamines because it spreads out over a wider area than the other oral mesalamines.

I've been on up to 4.5g of oral Pentasa during flareups while having one 1g Pentasa supp a day (I think I even got to have 2 a day for some days)

I'm on pentasa, my GI said max dose a day was 4g, ideally a maintenance dose of 2g, but to go up to 4g whenever needed and stay there until I figured I was ready to taper down. This 4g max was independent from my rectal meds (4g enema and 1g suppository both prescribed to me "as needed").

Why are you only on a 1g enema? Enema has been the most effective for me when things got "hairy".
