Still on my Simponi (and still working) and just saying HI on the 40th anniversary of my UC!

Hi everyone, been a while.....

My 40th anniversary of this wonderful malady was April 22....1975!...that makes it FIVE DECADES.

I am still on Simponi now since 3/2014 and in full remission, doing great...nothing but that and 4 Lialda a day...for the first time in 15 years, nothing gets shoved up my butt!

NO side effects, trust my gut 100%, go anywhere, eat anything, no issues.

Here's to hoping all of you get well too and feel better.....stay well my friends.....

Congrats on the remission.
Dam you beat me by 5 years.
There is someone else on here that has had it even longer.

Yay, congrats!!!!!!! That is a long time with this crappy disease. Too bad there hasn't been a cure in all this time. Glad things are going so well!!!!!!!!

Glad to read that you're celebrating your 40th in remission! Later this yr I'll have my 35th anniversary of Dx with UC. At least there are more Rx options now than we had way back then. As Old Mike commented, a couple occasional posters here go back even further, and I think they had longterm success taking sulfasalazine for the most part. Wish you many more yrs of good health! / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Scott Z and Old Hat, any advice for the many uc newcomers here in dealing/coping with the many challenges uc gives us?

update...just had my 2 year scope and was 100% quiescent and in FULL remission on Simponi....not a drop of any active disease anywhere!

I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend for a week as a volunteer cabin counselor for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America's OASIS camp they have yearly for kids 5-18. Looking forward to helping all those kids have a normal time swimming, boating, and playing in a normal environment with kids that all have those same problems as us!

That's awesome! I know a girl who volunterred her time at camp oasis earlier in june and she said it was such a rewarding experience. So great to help those kids!
