I'm currently taking 4gs of Salofalk & tapering off Predisone but unfortunetly I'm not achieving remission and so my doctor is starting me on Imuran tomorrow. He said Imuran could take a few months to start working, so to continue with my Predisone until then.
With all the other info we went over today, I forgot to ask if I should also stay on the Salofalk too, does anyone else here take Imuran and Salofalk together? I'm reluctant to ditch the Salofalk if I don't need to yet as I think it's stopping my flare from escalating, but the Imuran leaflet says that they can have a negative effect on each other?

You should be safe taking them both together.

Stay on the salfolk, imuran, and prednisone until your doctor says otherwise. Salfolk is helping some, so if you remove it then your symptoms are likely to just get worse. Same with prednisone, until the Imuran is given enough time to work, you need prednisone, then you can begin a taper off of prednisone.
Once you're off of prednisone you can ask about
discontinuing salfolk. However, many need both Imuran and salfolk to maintain a good quality of life, and keep their uc at bay. Combination therapy is often the most successful method of treating uc.

Get on Salofalk retention enemas as well. At least give it a fair try.

Great, thanks all for your advice.
Thank goodness for this forum, I would be lost without your help! :)
