Hi Michael. What did they diagnose was the cause of the chest pain? I'm also surprised they would Rx Motrin to a patient with UC.
Every body is so different and in different stages of inflammation it's hard to give advice. My homeopath advised at least two smoothies a day with yogurt (full fat), banana, blueberries and a quality protein powder along with multiple small meals throughout the day. Potato salad (minus the celery) is a great food to help regain weight and is also a form of resistant starch. Grains can prove problematic while still healing, but some can eat them no problem. And then of course, if you're an omni you have all sorts of meats to choose from. Broths and soups are always a good bet. Nut butters are great. Basically steer clear of raw veggies, greasy food, hot spices, beans, whole grains, at least for now until you begin healing. It helps to keep a food diary of your reactions so you can track your triggers.
Best.
