This happen to anybody else? It seems like certain places trigger an urgency attack.
Seems like every single time I walk into target, no matter how I feel, I get an urgency attack. It happened today, I wasn't even consciously thinking about
it because I was trying to keep the peace between the kids. 30 seconds after walking in I had to run to the bathroom.... That happens every time I walk in there without fail, no matter how well I think I'm feeling. I don't know why.... I don't associate target with anything as far as I know (I had no accidents here or anything).
I'm thinking I just have to stop shopping at target. ☺

I used to think that but then it started happening randomly anywhere. Luckily i was always able to get to the toilet quickly. The worst times for me have been when i was in the car with someone else driving. Of course they never believe they need to pull over NOW.

I know exactly why.
They have filthy bathrooms and Murphy's law kicks in

I wont drive in a car unless I'm the driver. I don't even really like having passengers. I hate waiting in lines, at stop signs, or when traffic is moving slowly due to accident or road works.

For me my trigger is more like I have five minutes left to do whatever I need to do (teaching, shopping, playing a concert) and the panic of not being able to make it. I literally ran off stage after a concert yesterday because I was sure I needed to go. I hate that. Also pulling into my driveway can be a trigger for me. It is like my body knows I am home so hurry up and get inside and go!

I always have this in Asda Home! Madness! I think it's because the toilets in there are quite nice and very rarely used, so I'm usually able to poop in peace!
How strange!

My trigger is anything to do with my GI:
1. Seeing is picture on LinkedIn once triggered me
2. Seeing his picture next to his name on my phone
3. The hospital where he works
Yet he is such a nice guy.

Trigger
locations? When I was flaring, anywhere a bathroom is unavailable would trigger anxiety, which can be a self-fulfilling prophecy of doom (anxiety grows exponentially, making it much, much more likely to cause urgency or an accident). The big box stores are scary places for those with uc urgency (walmart, lowes, homedepot, etc.) as there is usually just one bathroom in a gigantic store (what kind of sadist came up with that idea?). I'd usually hit the bathroom 1st thing before shopping, and again after checking out at the register, as precautions.
Car rides in the early am can trigger anxiety, more so when hitting traffic or on an unfamiliar route. I'd try to empty out before leaving, get in the car, and have to stop at either a dunkin donuts or gas station not a quarter mile down the road from my house. I was a regular, lol, even guilted me into buying a donut as I couldn't be the guy who ignored "for customers only" signs. I could just picture my mugshot behind the cashiers desk along with: do not allow this man in the bathroom unless he buys something first...

Going to bed and getting into the perfect position under the duvet seems to be a surefire trigger for me. Bonus points if I'm freezing when I get up. Extra bonus points if this can be repeated several times throughout the night.

My DW has fleece jammies and socks. You should get a pair NCOT, maybe it'd help?
When flaring, I'd always keep a nit cap, extra fleece and slippers in the bathroom. As it was winter, the house chilly, and we all know those urgent uc bathroom trips during the nocturnal hours don't allow any time to grab that stuff along the way...

Lol I have a little rug in my bathroom now
I also leave my slippers on the way to the bathroom so I just walk into them.

After years of flare symptoms, my anxiety got so bad there there's a long list of stuff that I just won't do any more:
Riding in a car with anyone else
Public transportation (I had to get a third job to buy a parking lease near the first one to avoid the bus)
Spending the night with my significant other
Eat at all during the day if I have meetings or a class to teach in the afternoon. I usually wait until I get home.
Going to a restaurant (or anywhere else) where the bathroom is a single stall
Travel
I'm under the care of both a psychiatrist and a therapist who only work with IBD patients and I take anti anxiety meds and anti depressants. Doesn't matter. Any of those things will trigger a full blown panic attack, which isn't worth it. I try to explain to my doctors that my anxiety comes from the fact that I've had several years of unrelenting symptoms. No remission in nearly 4 years. I worry sometimes that it's permanently broken my brain and I'll never be able to leave my house without feeling dread.

Oh my, uc is terrible. Try biologics or considered surgery? 4 years without remission and limited activities is quite rough for even the strongest of us to cope qwith ...

On the way to work for me every morning, probably something to do with the industrial estate having speed bumps every 100 metres.
