I’ve had UC for almost 10 years and have been taking Humira for over 4 years and I’ve been in remission for almost a year (confirmed with my colonoscopy last month). However, I still have a lot of symptoms and frequent and painful bowel movements and spend nearly every morning in the bathroom. I also found that if I don’t go the bathroom everyday, Its actually worse, very bloated, sometime nauseous and a few times I’ve had back and should pain. In fact a had to go the ER a couple of months ago with severe pain in my lower right ribs after traveling all day, It felt like a broken rib and hurt to breath. The ER doctor took X-rays and said my chest was they were fine but the colon was full and diagnosed it as Costochondritis. I was surprised because It wasn’t like I hadn’t gone to the bathroom in days, I just held if for that day because I had to traveling to visit a college with my daughter and was constipated by that evening.
My Dr. had tried various probiotics, tested for fat absorption, restrictive diets, etc. but my symptoms persist. I’m meeting with my Dr in a few weeks. I’m glad I’m in remission and free of ulcers, but I don’t feel any better. Any thoughts or has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks and sorry for the long post.
