Don't have much advice in terms of medicines.But do everything possible from your side to calm this flare asap. The longer the flare, the more chance for the body to get into autoimmune mode.
Sharing few things along with medications that might be helpful and less expensive to attain remission.
Try your best to reduce stress.If workable, take a break from school.Working full time and studying while flaring is too much for the body to recover from flare.
Because of colon inflammation and diarrhea there is a strong possibility that your gut flora has changed. While on perdnisone, it is hard to pin point food tolerances.
Start using food /symptoms journal.This will help you to identify trigger foods.
It would do good if you can eliminate processed, packaged foods, dairy, sugar and pops.
Try your best to consume soft home cooked foods like butternut squash soup, eggs, baked salmon, chicken and ripe bananas.
If interested check into anti inflammatory diets like SCD, PALEO, FODMAP or GAPS DIET. Please keep in mind you may have to customize again according to your body's response.
You said your legs are shaky and hurt to walk. This is because colon being inflamed not absorbing nutrients. Have homemade or organic chicken soup with tolerable soft veggies added.(browse the net for benefits of chicken soup/bone broth)
Many got helped by adding probiotics as supplement. VSL-3 is the most recommended one. Until your insurance gets active try to consume kefir- Helps to repopulate good bacteria. (Again it is trail error.For some it works some it doesn't)Browse this forum or the net for benefits of kefir.
If you are a previous smoker- restarting it might help to attain and maintain remission. Search the net -(smoking and UC).
There are a lot of successful alternative therapies shared in this forum. Do a search and choose what is apt for you.
Lastly, If interested check into fecal transplant.(Check this forum or Power of poop website for success stories).
