I have been maintaining on 6MP for about
5 years and was just diagnosed with mild hyperthyroidism. I did some googling, but I'm curious if anyone knows if the medication could have had an effect on my thyroid? Anyone else gotten this diagnosis after taking 6MP for an extended period? I have a the question into my GI but have not heard back from him yet. I'm sure the two issues can also be totally unrelated and I could have some additional thyroid thing. Thanks for any input!

6-mercaptopurine does not cause problems with the thyroid, particularly Grave’s disease or toxic multinodular goiter (hyperthyroidism).
