Do people find that with milder cases of Colitis that the remicade works faster?

My current symptoms are: Formed stools 80% of the time but at times will have "grainy" looking stools, Blood, Uncomfortable Feeling on my Rectum (I don't know why), going to the bathroom about 5 times a day at most and an occasional lower abdominal pain (feels gassy and bloated). Normally I feel that stomach pains after I eat.

So with symptoms like that, would I be considered a mild, moderate or sever case?

When I was on apriso I had grainy stools. I chalked it up to the med. never had it before that and never had it after I stopped it.

As far as response time it really does vary person to person. I saw a 50% improvement within 3 days of my first treatment.

Personally I would consider your case mild BUT, while I was on apriso, I was completely symptom free. However my colonoscopy showed inflammation in the upper part of my colon. Within a few months of my colonoscopy I had a severe flare with 20+ bm a day.

When was your last colonoscopy and what did it find?

Remicade is a smart choice for you. I declined it last year after my dr recommended it. I regret it and would have bypassed a 3 week hospitalization if I listened.

My last colonoscopy was last March. I don't remember exactly what it showed but I think I was inflamed from the rectum and lower left. I was only on Apriso for a short time last summer. I am currently back on Lialda. I have been on that for the past 5-6 years primarily. I will always flare in the winter but this one just never fully got better.

I am very excited to start the Remicade. I go in Monday morning for my first infusion. My doctor tried to convince me to actually start it about 2 years ago but I was so against it. But now the only regret I have was not listening to her 2 years ago and now I can't wait to begin this process. I have heard amazing and wonderful things about it. The thought is scary but I want my life back. I didn't flare for years in college. I fact I forgot at times that I even had UC.
