The Ads.

Please, I mean to start no trouble. It disheartened me to see the other thread talking about the ads get locked. I have no clue what happened, I'm guessing people were disrespectful. I have no intention of being rude or anything, I'm just hoping to get some explanation.
We were told there would be the 8-second long videos, to expect those to not go away. But now I'm seeing two ads on the right side of the screen that are running nonstop. I am trying to write this out now and it's missing every other letter because my internet is struggling to keep up.
I posted a message on the Diabetes forum, the site crashed.
Please, I don't want any trouble, I just want to be able to use this website like I would any other. I am still surprised that at this day and age a website can crash like that!

There's nothing wrong about asking about the ads here, no worries.

I've never had HealingWell crash on me before. Can you try another web browser? I switched to a windows-based pc and I see two animated images on the right hand side. One has a hovering video (I guess that must be the 8 second one) that you can hide.

Try installing Adblock Plus. It's a plugin for Firefox. That should take care of it.

It's a wonderful program. I'm so used to it that when I web surf on my Kindle tablet I always feel like "I had no idea this website had all of these annoying ads.". There's another firefox plugin I use called Privacy Badger. It keeps sites from tracking you. Have you ever noticed that if you visit a site like Lands End, even if you don't buy anything, you start seeing their ads on every other site you visit? Privacy Badger blocks that.

OH MY GOSH. JUST about EVERYWHERE. Seriously. I'll look up a book I want to get my sister on Amazon and then suddenly the darn thing shows up here and there like magic.
OT, but once I looked up a jacket at a department store website, just looking, and next thing I know I get an email advertising jackets. I was a strong mixture of being disgusted and being freaked out like someone was seriously watching me.
Please, do you know, can I get these things for Internet Explorer?

Go to these addresses using Internet Explorer:

If the version of IE you're running is supported, it will show you the option to install them.

I do know something about this stuff. I run the IT department at my company and have two website development projects going on now.

By the way, Internet Explorer is a terrible browser. You'd do much better running firefox or chrome.

i just installed those blockers and they are great. iPoop actually recommended I do it a few weeks ago, and I forgot - but yeah, this is much better :)

Richard! Sending you a big high-five through the web! Seriously. I want to hug you. I appreciate the fact that I'm tying right now and it's catching every letter I type as opposed to it struggling to catch up. My words are showing up now! YES!
The badger wouldn't work for my IE but it did for my Firefox. It's my work computer and the default internet option is IE so that's what I've gotten used to. It's funny... all of the tech-savvy people I've met all seem to agree that IE is bad. I can't help but agree then! Thank you SO much for your help. You really did help! Definitely useful, no doubt about it. In fact, I'm going to share those websites with my sisters, who would benefit from them.

iPoop, I think I get it. I wouldn't want to jeopardize this website at all. I appreciate your kind understanding, and I mean that.

It's possible to disable your ad blocker and click the ads occasionally. Same result for the website, without being driven nuts by flashing, jiggling images slowing everything down to a crawl or blocking your view of half the page.

NB: For Adblock Plus, it's as simple as clicking on the red ABP icon in the toolbar, unchecking "Enabled on this site", going to another page, clicking a few ads, clicking the ABP icon again, and checking "Disabled on this site.

Sound advice NCT. Have you tried Privacy Badger as well? Merry Christmas to my friends in Old Blighty.
