Has anyone tried Clostridium butyricum probiotic with any success?

it is in Probiotic 3 which didn't go well with me but i've read many good things about this particular strain. Does any other probiotic contain it?

very interesting, thanks for posting. Another article says that it is also beneficial even in diabetes II (http://ghn.thegraychannel.com/tag/miyarisan/)

"Clostridium butyricum MIYAIRI (known as CBM) is a number of C.butyricum, a butyric acid producing spore forming obligate anaerobe, which found in soil and the intestine in humans and animals.The mechanism by which CBM controls diarrhea is based on several properties of CBM. For example,CBM has been shown to have antagonistic interaction against Candida albicans, Clostridium difficile , enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp. and Vibrio spp.
In addition, butyric acid has a proliferative effect on mucosal cells in the intestine, suggesting that, butyric acid has therapeutic efficiency against inflammatory bowel disease."

ewafromwarsaw- Probiotic-3 contains lactose. Maybe that is what bothered you?

The research on this looks interesting but I am terrified of probiotics. The only ones I have been able to take is VSL and culturelle. The probiotic Align caused a terrible flare in me. It contains some pretty nasty stuff like titanium dioxide. The problem with a lot of these probiotics is not always the strain they use but the other crap they put in them.

I agree. Culturelle used to be a very “clean” probiotic with very few additives. Its lactobacillus GG strain of bacteria worked very well for me. A couple of years ago they added junk including maltodextrin which is not good for ulcerative colitis.

It didn't seem to be quite as effective so I quit it. But started up again after I noticed that even with all those additives it still has some benefit.

I have not used Culturelle in a long time. That is sad that they too have started to put additives in. That used to be my goto cheap probiotic. Those whiteners they use are especially toxic with me. I really don't need a supplement to be white to make it more appealing!

I recently got another soiled based probiotic that appears not to have any additives but I have been scared to take it because I am doing really well lately. Anyone else tried this one? I wonder if the strains are similar?

The reviews seem kind of extreme from 1. it wrecked my life 2. Cured me in 24 hours.

I am going to try it when I run out of VSL. I just can't afford VSL anymore.

Elpis, yes i think it could have been lactose in probiotic 3 but i didn't notice it before buying it. It's very interesting what you say about align, i was taking it recently but i'm not too high on it either. I recently had a thread about vivomixx which is said to be vsl under a different name, it's much cheaper than vsl so perhaps it would be more economical for you to order it from Europe. As for prescript assist, i also read very diverse opinions and after bad experiences with probiotic 3, i'm a bit discouraged, however i'm planning to try this clostridium butyricum probiotic soon
