Wow. If Bob Seger said Frey had UC for most of his life (see zengrrl's link), there goes the misdiagnosis theory. It's interesting but not surprising that he was willing to publicly discuss diverticulitis and downplay it with his junk food comment, but didn't mention the colitis.

Yes I agree Missing Colon. I think he thought diverticulitis was more understandable for people, especially back in the '80s. Perhaps at that time he totally was in denial as well--there was no Healing Well Forum for example and no way to research easily the nature of the "dis-ease" and physicians were nearly clueless as well. He really did his best to carry on and must have suffered a great deal. (Lighting a candle in memory).

Do you believe that your immune system is still compromised even though you had your surgery and are no longer on biologics?

There are many complications of UC that can kill you: c. diff, toxic megacolon, peritonitis, malnutrition to name just a few. Sometimes celebrities also suffer because they go to "doctors of the rich and famous" who give them what they want rather than what they need. Whatever the cause, the world has lost a great talent.
