Antibiotics?

Hello all!

Im having one of those nights where I am very worried and a little sad. And a bit confused about this disease. If anyone has some feed back I could use it!

A little back ground. I had UC that got downgraded to proctitis. I have been on Lialda, rectal mesalamine enemas for a few years. LAst year I was able to go into kind of a remission on Prednisone that I was on for a few months, but the side effects were rough. I have been off the steroids for about 6 months and have been getting worse in terms of times running to the bathroom and cramping, but I am not having any new bleeding. Last night I wound up in the ER with intense spasms. They did a catscan and found mild colitis throughout my transverse, descending and sigmoidrectal colon. They put me on Flagyl and Cipro. My GI doctor is on vacation for a week so I havent talked to him.

Here are my questions. Forgive me if they are kind of dumb.

1) Does anyone have experience with antibiotics for UC?
2) Does this mean my UC spread throughout my whole colon in under a year?
3) Any other insight would be great.

Thanks for your feedback! I am on the max dose of lialda and mesalamine enemas.

THe flagyl and Cipro seem to be making me worse and sleeping and dizzy and nauseas for a few days, but I know I have to finish the course.
