Been having very little pee since Thursday. Also it's dark and painful.

I called my pcp this afternoon and he called me back saying he will see me tomorrow am.
Firstly, how could you not love such a doc. He personally called me within 2 hrs and than squeezed me in for an am apt. So I wouldn't be in pain!!

Secondly, getting anxious about taking antibiotics if it's UTI. Don't want c. Diff
Because I'm not having urgency to pee I'm hoping it's minor.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

Definitely sounds like a UTI. when you see your doc, request Macrobid. This antibiotic is easier on your gut than most antibiotics.

I'm on Augmentin right now for a UTI. Gives me D, so I'm also taking Lomotil with it. Unfortunately, the antibiotic has to be selected by what the bacteria is sensitive to, rather than what doesn't bother our colon. Macrobid did nothing for my UTI. See if you can get the doc to prescribe Lomotil along with the antibiotic, double up on your probiotic and hope you're better very soon.

Ok I'm going to ask to use a narrow range as possible antibiotic.
Macrobid may fit the bill depending on what the culture says

thankfully its not an infection
I am dehydrated- I opted for no infusion fluids
he said its probably from the prep, which makes sence because I have been super nauseous since thursday and not been drinking much...
im trying to drink up now

Good news for sure.....hope this is the end of the discomfort for you after the scope. Did he offer you anything for the nausea?

I have zofran for nausea I'm hoping getting hydrated will help normalize things.

That doesn't sound like a UTI to me. UTI's cause constant need to pee but the amount is reduced. Drink lots of water. Did you take some B vitamins? That can darken your urine too.

oh, and if it is a UTI....keep in mind that Macrobid is not a heavy antibiotic. You may have to sweat it out for a few days with Macrobid. At least, I always have to. But Macrobid tends not to bother UC. I always prefer it to ones like Cypro. Nasty nasty that one.

i've read that cranberry supplements taken for uti should be taken together with vitamin d because it intensifies its strength, it's best to have it combined in one supplement, cranberry plus vit d
