Yes, I've definitely had this experience!! It's awful. I went to a dermatologist and she recommended hemorrhoid suppositories with hydrocortisone. I believe these were the ones:

Honestly, though, even the off-brand hemorrhoid suppositories (without hydrocortisone) worked well. In the meantime, avoid ANY OTHER cream or ointment, including hydrocortisone, because that will just make it worse. And try not to scratch—you'll only inflame the area. I know it's really uncomfortable, but just stick with the suppositories (you can use a few a day), and avoid touching the area, and things will improve. I'd also recommend gently rinsing the area with (ONLY) water in the shower, but don't overdo it.
