Hey,
I have not been on in a long time becuae I have been super busy
last week I saw a doc who specializes in hair loss.
she agreed with what my derm/GI said about hair loss but gave me some good info and tips. hope this info will help someone else.
she said there are many triggers that cause hair loss (telogen efflivium) including: Vitamin D deficiency, Iron deficiency, Recent stress or trauma, recent hospitalization, Recent major infection and inflammtion
as IBD patients we have experienced many or all of these triggers
she said its takes 2-3 for the hair to start falling out after the trigger
she recomended that I get Iron infusions and refered me to a hematologist who specializes in this. because my Iron and ferratin had plummeted since the last tests in November which already indicated pretty bad anemia.
we tried testing vitamin D again but my stupid insurance wont pay for it and right now I cant afford the test
she said it would take about 6 months to start growing back but there were things to do to help quickstart the growth process
1.she told me to use some shampoo called revita
2. and to use generic mens rogaine (For cost reasons) 5% foam 1x a day
3. eat well, get enough protein and nutrients....
4.and to look into hair treatments called continum
Also, it was not caused by remicade/imuran....
