Hey guys,

I had CDiff and was put on Dificid for a 10 day treatment to treat the CDiff, at the same time I tapered from 10mg of pred to 7.5mg of pred and then 5mg of pred. Ever since starting the antibiotics (and the pred taper) I've had crazy belly pain in my lower left abdomen right at my lower colon I'd say.

I've had a CT scan, 2 CDiff tests to confirm it was negative and everything came out fine. I'm currently on Tramadol for a painkiller but I still can't walk in the mornings due to so much pain it hunches me over as well as it wakes me up at night and I can't go back to sleep. Even when I was hospitalized and the inflammation was supposedly worse according to the CT scan, I wasn't in this pain.

Has anyone else ever experienced this coming off of CDiff or dropping Prednisone, obviously the inflammation is still very much there and I am starting Entyvio ASAP but this pain is insane. Any thoughts or remedies?

i had a lot of pain when i got off prednisone because i wasnt healed and my meds werent working. i never had pain with c diff but i know some people have. i'd say it's definitely the inflammation and the only thing to help is getting on a medication that works. hopefully the entyvio wont be as slow acting as i've heard peope say.

i've never been given any pain meds by my doctors so i've just learned to deal with the pain. i usually sing to myself or watch comedies to take my mind off of feeling like i'm being repeatedly stabbed with a burning knife. tylenol does nothing. the less i eat, the less i have to attempt to digest so i just dont eat.

This is the first time that I've had this kind of pain, hence the painkillers that don't really do much. I just can't even sleep cause of this pain.

I was put on morphine when my pain was insane. Screaming pain. I'll never forget it. One dose of morphine was instant relief. If it's that bad get to an emerg or call your doc. immediately.

There's a lot of potential pain sources in the abdomen, in a small area: pancreas, gallbladder, kidney stones, cysts in reproductive system (women), or intestinal pains from uc. You can get pancreatitis from any of the uc medications. I'd make sure you're certain it's uc pains and if you have any doubts then see your doctor or go to an urgent care facility just to make sure there's nothing else causing those pains. I know the uc pains, sharp stabbing point pains (like a knife stab) that I got during a severe flare. Horrible.

Are the pains, point pains, radiating pains, from a specific location (front, back, left or right side)?

GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM IMMEDIATELY!!!

I had these pain symtoms back in 2013 - turned out to be a micro perforation in my colon and I had early stages of sepsis. Doc said I was one or two days from dying if I would not have been treated... I remember lying in bed curled up in pain and sweats telling the wife.. of im ok I think I just have the flu or something. Better be safe than sorry. Its not worth gambling with your life...

My only experience with cdiff was when it was after a bout of pancreatitis. I had been home 2 days and thought I was flaring. Returned to the hospital and discovered I was positive for c-diff and was admitted. I did have a lot of pain...intense cramping, pressure and fire in the rectum. I would say the worst pain I've experienced followed by a significant flare of proctitis. I had a flex sig because docs didn't believe I was flaring, had early remicade dose and couldn't keep my cdiff meds down because of the nausea so another admission. My point is we can spiral quickly and if it's not normal for you, don't hesitate in being seen even if one ER blows you off and you go to another. My 3rd admission in 3 weeks I walked into the ER, gave them the cliff notes and said I'm here to be admitted because I can't do this at home anymore.
