I truly understand your situation. I have had colitis 16 years and have been through all the meds. I just spent a week in the hospital with sepsis brought on by adrenal crisis they suspect. I was in a bad flare had a colonscope - 2 hours later had shakes and temp of 101. Wound up in ambulance with a blood pressure of 70\50. They got fluids in me and IV antibiotics, a round of IV steroids and got me stabilized. I am at home now day 2 and I see blood in the bowl again along with the usual gut pain. I am now 100% steroid dependent they say and I have to get an endocrinologist to get me off the Pred. Enough of my sob story - here is what I think for you. First if you have not done so get a Doc to prescribe some pain meds. Next, Uceris may help, You might try 6-MP - takes a while to get in your system but it helped me for a few years. Otherwise the biologics may work - try HUmira, Simponi, Entivio. Ultimately my advise for anyone that does not respond to meds is to get the surgery. Remove the source of the problem before they poison you with years of meds that dont work. Im now trying to get healthy enough to have the surgery and I ultimately still have to find a way off the Pred. Good luck and God Bless... Try and stay positive.
Diagnosed 2001. Tried and failed with almost everything. Currently taking Prednisone 40MG, Entivio, Uceris, Lialda, Hydrocodone, Vitamin D supplement, Lorsapan, Just added: Fish oil pills. Considering Surgery. :(
