Prednisone now at 20mg for 4 weeks..tapered down from 40 mg

Yes....like everyone else, I AM ALWAYS BLOATED and have gained about 5 pounds and HATE IT! I am lucky I haven't had the moon face but do get back aches. Just wondered WHEN this will start going away. Now am on 20mg (daily dosage) tapered down from 40mg and then I think we be 10mg then 5mg as time goes on maybe 2 week increments (will have to wait and see). So, still will be on this "Necessary Evil" for a little while yet. Have heard and read you DO lose some of what you gained when you start taking a lower dosage of of Prednisone. What are your experiences? Will I get rid of this bloated belly and the scale go down a bit? No, not looking for a miracle, just curious. LOL Hope there's a little light at the end of the tunnel.

this first then Imuran....had a very BAD reaction to LIALDA. Was on it a couple years ago for a flare and it worked and was fine...went into remission for a couple years. Another flare this year, LIALDA didnt work, put me in the hospital. Basically, attacking my red blood cells and killing them off. Had to have a tranfusion, bone marrow biopsy and cat scan of abdomen. Doc. wanted to tread lightly....so, been on Pred. now for a little while and going to Hemotologist tomorrow to see if he thinks I can start on Imuran. Just don't want another bad reaction. GAH! : (

yikes - that does not sound like fun !

but clear something up for me - my interpreting of your lialda saga makes it sound like you went on it and then OFF ? and then on again, starting the blood cell thing ?
