Always fatigued need help

Hi everyone I'm 15 years old and at the moment I have been struggling extremely with fatigued. This has been going on for 3 months now and I have had enough. We have had a lot of blood tests and they all come back normal and perfect. I'm to tired to walk or do anything, I don't even wanna see people anymore.
The doctors think I should take antidepresspents as I have been through a really hard time and now it's hitting me now or could it be because of imuran that is causing this. I'm really stressed out about as today was out first day back from holidays and I didn't go as I'm to tired, I can't talk probaly and concentrate.

Has anyone become fatigued from imuran ??
Or from being depressed ?

This disease makes me very tired, but depression also makes folks tired. It can't hurt to find a psychiatrist and get screened for depression as this disease is very isolating. Did your doctor's check your b-12 levels? If they are low you can feel pretty exhausted. Hope you find a way to shake to your tiredness. I don't think it is a side effect of imuran, but I have never taken it, so I don't know for sure.

Thanks so much for the reply, I have had b-12 injections but they didn't work, I think I'm gonna have to take antidepressants which I'm scared to take

Good luck in finding an answer for the fatigue. That has been a big problem for me over the years, overwhelming fatigue and tiredness at times. Of late I have been overcoming this problem. To be honest though I'm not entirely sure why the fatigue, pain and mental fog has lifted other than i changed my diet a few months ago, and began some acupuncture type ideas. Regardless I hope the good energy remains for me.

I've been reading more and more about low dose naltrexone (LDN). I have not taken it myself yet but it has caught my attention. It is little prescribed but many with IBD conditions report their colitis improved and energy returned after taking LDN. It might be worth asking for doctor and parents for a trial. LDN tends to have few negative side effects. I saw there is a thread on LDN on the sight that can offer helpful information.

If your bloodwork says "normal" then look in other areas that could be causing your fatigue.

Up top of this page, next to "Log Off" is a button called "Profile". List what your diagnosis is and what meds you are on now and any other info. It helps people see where you are currently with your UC and you don't have to keep answering questions like "What RX meds are you taking".

UC can be very tiring but the first place I'd suspect is that your RX meds have some influence. For some it can be a tough choice between RX meds that keep symptoms away and having symptoms like fatigue from the same RX meds. 6mp (similar to Imuran) made me fatigued and caused bruising but it was not hard for me to switch to a diff. RX because 6mp didn't help my symptoms.

If you are not clinically depressed I would not start meds for depression. Depression is diagnosis a psychiatrist needs to make after talking with you in depth.

Are you in Remission? If not, a flare can cause fatigue.

If you are in Remission then you could start tweaking your meds to see if a decrease in fatigue.

Were you recently on Steroids? You could be going through steroid withdrawal.

There are lots of things that can cause fatigue including depression.

I tried a lot of things to fight fatigue.
The ones I found that helped the most are St John's wort and Maca powder.
It took a few months of taking St johns wort before I noticed an increase in general happiness and now I swear by it. If I stop taking it, I start having bad nightmares in just a few days.
As with any anti-depressant it can take a few months to kick in.
I was on prescription ones for years when I was younger and from what I can remember they helped a lot. I don't think I would of been as outgoing and adventurous as a teenager without them.
I would say don't be scared of them,if you really need them, you should take them. They can be extremely helpful to a lot of people. But they are a long term thing and the thing to be most careful of is coming off them. As mentioned above, speak to a therapist and get assessed.

Maca powder is great for physical energy, I noticed that difference that made within a few days to a week or so! I take 1 500mg organic tablet in the morning with breakfast. If I skip a dose, sometimes I can really tell.
