SOrry to be repetitive but 5 abx in 7 weeks have left me a mess.

Used Monistat ovule last Thurs for yeast infection. Burned my lady bits to pieces!! (I've used it before with no problems). Thought it was gone and things were back to normal yesterday....but today it seems like it's back.

I've been reading on Nystatin and Diflucan...both say the rid the gut of candida/yeast (good!) but the negative is that they also kill the good bacteria. I seriously don't think I have any good left hence what I'm going through now. I believe that the my gut biome is ruined which is why Friday's IVIG didn't work and I'm worse now.

Should I try Canestan brand ovule this time?

I've been on Antibiotics for most of the past 2 years, I find that the only thing that helps me is Diflucan. I also need to take a good probiotic with it like Florastor and Culturelle.

It takes a while but now that you are off of the antibiotics things should go back to normal. I'd try to stay away from Carbs because that is food for the yeast.

You may also have some yeast in your GI tract; treating it could help your symptoms.

I will say that sometimes when I start Diflucan that for a day or two I have diarrhea but that does subside.

Does using Diflucan treat the yeast in the GI tract?


My last abx dose was last Wed. Had to take the 5th due to abscess.

I can't stand anymore d. Now vomiting....

Picked up bentondite clay. going to try that. Hopefully things will settle and I can eat. Nothing substantial since Friday.

Hoping to catch a break.

Yes, it does treat yeast in the GI tract, that's what I use it for. I get Thrush from using ABX and Diflucan treats it very effectively.

Thanks Keith. My doc just called. Said to use Canestan 7 day cream.

Diflucan is a slam dunk for me. I have grown accustomed to having some in my home for just in case, but I am so thankful a lot of my yeast issues seem to be controlled for the moment. If the yeast is systemic, you will need some kind of tablet. If it's a vaginal yeast infection, you have more options. I have to say, I never had luck with monistat or any of the OTC stuff from the grocery store, it just never worked well for me AT ALL. I had A LOT of luck with boric acid suppositories. Since using those, I haven't had to use any diflucan. You can also use them while you're on antibiotics to prevent vaginal yeast. Of course, if it's beyond vaginal yeast, you need something else.

Just so you know you may have to repeat the Diflucan, speaking for myself, someone that has had systemic Candida I ended up having to take 3 Diflucan over a period of time, and oral Nystatin, which I highly recommend anyway, as thrush gets everywhere. You may not need this but I thought I should mention it anyway. Can you make Kefir, Water Kefir, its full of probiotics and will help.

How do I know if my entire GI tract is infected or is systemic ?

I'm wondering if that's why I have such terrible heartbrun/gas and am "out of it". I can't sit/stand straight cause of the heartburn. I do not feel like myself at all.

Had a lengthy conversation with pharmacist. She said my priority is to get hydrated and eat.....but at least drink. Use topical canesten until I can see my GI. Do NOT start the Wellbutrin until I am physically doing better and can eat full meals.

I knew because i had a vaginal yeast infection and thrush - my throat was all white. Really crazy. Trying to figure it out based on being tired would never work for me, I am always tired. I would have asked for diflucan if I were you. Seems to address the yeast better for me.

My tongue was grey/white my Vjay was in bad shape and I had a flare up of Lichen Sclerosus, which always happens for me when i have thrush. I do know that Candida is a really bad thing to have and it took some work getting rid of it, but you might not have Candida, I just knew I had it bad at the time, my tongue was the giveaway and the other symptoms I have mentioned. Cutting down on sugar apparently helps.

I did a Google. I have all but 2 symptoms. My tongue is fine. Given the 5 abx in 7 weeks seems likely. I have to get through the night & try my GI tomorrow.

I've had 2 doses of clay. No change in bowel yet. Just water.

I had to do a whole week of diflucan at 200mg in order to get my yeast controlled after a LONG course on multiple antibiotics. I can't imagine you DON'T have some major yeast after that triple antibiotic thing + the other anitbiotics for the abscess.

Diflucan works on yeast infections for me. Usually it is just two pills and that's it. I used to get lots of yeast infections, like mild ones every month after my period. Now I rarely ever do.

Some of the scripts that I've gotten have been 30 days of Diflucan because it was so bad. Even when my tongue was not white I still had some of the other regular Thrush symptoms like being exhausted and my GI tract being messed up.

My tongue isn't always the give away that I have Thrush, sometimes the symptoms come on and then a few days later my tounge is white.

I support everyone here on the diflucan. I also second nssg on the boric acid. It helped me so much. I no longer have yeast issues knock wood and it was soothing on the hoo-ha. You can order ready made pills from Amazon. I have 2 bottles saved just in case.
