I started 6 MP, 75 mg/day, about 3 months ago and have been going for bloodwork (CBC and hepatic panel) every two weeks.
My LFTs have been going up. Four weeks ago my GI called me and told me to cut the dosage to 50 mg. I then did not hear from him after my next bloodwork, which was 10 days after the cut in dosage.
I went to the lab yesterday and guess what! - no test orders. I called the GI, who was on vacation... and was absolutely surprised when he called me back. He said that because of the rising LFTs I should stop the 6 mp and he would order a bunch of other tests. (I was in the middle of doing something and was so surprised by his call that I didn't ask any sensible questions!)
He asked me if there was anything at all "new" that I was taking, which could raise the LFTs. (Can't think of a thing.) Later it occurred to me that I am eating less and walking a lot, in trying to lose weight... but nothing else is different. I have been drinking a lot of water, per instructions.
How long would it have taken for LFTs to go down when I lowered the dose? And are there others who just get elevated LFTs for no discernable or dire reason when on 6 MP/Imuran/AZA?
It seems that each time I talk to this GI I am on the road or in the middle of something complicated, so I have not even had a chance to get my actual numbers. (Quincy, I figured you'd ask.... lol)
In any case I am heading off with DH tomorrow; we've rented a cottage for a week's Vaca. I may hear from the GI, but I am trying not to be worried and ruin my time away.
